Happy first day of Fall, everyone! I personally am most looking forward to Fall fashion (especially boots), warm drinks and nice walks outside. Fall is one of my favorite seasons because I love the crisp air.
It’s been highly requested that I post my workout routine, so that’s what I’m going to share with you today.
I’m going to be honest. For the longest time I didn’t have a workout routine and just worked out a bit here and a bit there. This led to me not being motivated to workout at all. I do not go to a gym, I workout at home.
I’m speaking for myself here: if I don’t have a workout plan, then there’s a 90% chance I wont work out. It’s different for everyone, so I suggest to find out what works for you, rather than copying someone else.
I don’t want working out to be something I do for a short time period and then stop. I want to exercise for as long as I can. Let’s not forget that leading a healthy lifestyle is a lifestyle change. So, I’m starting small by working out 4 days a week and taking 3 active rest days.
I typically workout on Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays. On those days I do cardio (either go jogging or go on the elliptical), weight lifting (with dumbbells) and body strength exercises.
My active rest days are usually on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. On those days I still try to stay active. I'll go swimming my my mom or a friend, go roller skating, go for a long walk etc.
Of course, sometimes I’m so busy and have to change my schedule a bit.
I walk a lot. Whether it’s taking my dog Eva out or walking to the grocery store. I walk everywhere I can and I think it’s a great way to sneak in some exercise.
I like to dance in my room. I know I cant be the only one that does this. I think it’s fun and a great way to get your heart pumping. Again, it’s a great way to sneak in some exercise.
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved to swim. I am by no means a pro, but I do think it’s relaxing and fun.
Running & Elliptical
I like to go jogging with my mom and my dog Eva. They both make great workout buddies! We have an elliptical at home that I like to use as well.
I do not lift any hardcore weights. For now, I just have one pair of dumbbells that I use. I love working out my arms the most.
Pre & Post Workout Nutrition
I like to workout in the afternoon, about 3 hours after lunch. Right now I don’t feel like I need to eat something right before I workout, so lunch fuels me perfectly. I do eat something after I workout. Usually it’s a smoothie made with fruit (banana, berries), spinach and some sort of protein (either yogurt, cottage cheese or whey protein powder).
I like to top off my smoothies with granola or cereal. You can view all my smoothie recipes here.
